3 steps

1. STEP 1 · GROUP THE PIECESPick two or more pieces · ⇧click their rows, or press the ○ dots · then ⌘G. A header row appears above them with the group’s name and how many are in it. Double-press the name to change it.
2. STEP 2 · PRESS THE HEADER ROW, THEN DRESS THE GROUPPress the header row itself. The strength and overprint at the top of the panel now speak for the GROUP, not for its pieces · and that is a different picture, not a shortcut to the same one. Two overlapping opaque pieces at half each read as three quarters covered; the pair of them at half reads as a half. One impression. The header row wears an underline saying how strong the group is, and OP when it overprints.
3. STEP 3 · ONE PLATE THROUGH ALL OF ITPress the ▓ on the header row and the quick mask opens on the group’s own plate · one hole through the whole group, so where two pieces overlap you get one clean edge rather than two. Paint it as you would any plate and close the session; the plate rides the save with the group. And while you are in this list: hold ⌥ and press any eye to see that piece alone · ⌥ again gives the sheet back exactly as it stood.
