THE CRAFT
A shape that draws itself on
Draw one hand-drawn, lay it down as marks, and let the reel write it onto the sheet like a hand.

3 steps
- STEP 1 · DRAW IT OFF ITS RULERTake the Shape tool (S) and drag one out. The ✎ slider in the bar says how far the outline wanders off its ruler · at nought it is the ruled shape it always was, and up from there the line drifts, an open Rule overshoots its ends, and a Bar’s corners round and miss. Blob is a circle that arrives already wobbling.
- STEP 2 · LAY IT AS MARKSPress ⍐ Lay as a mark. Its outline becomes a brush stroke in whatever texture the BRUSH card is holding, and its fill becomes a wash under it. It is not a picture of a shape any more · it is the record of one, on a paint sheet, in the same place in the stack.
- STEP 3 · LET IT DRAW ITSELFOpen MOTION, pick the sheet and lay The ink arrives on it. The shape now draws itself onto the page along its own outline, the way a hand would. ⌥click it to pick the outline and re-clothe it in another texture or colour, and the LIVING row will boil it, wave it or make it glow.
