3 steps

1. STEP 1 · SET A WORD, AND PICK ITTake Type (T) and set one short word · two to fourteen letters, a line or two at most. Click it so its row lights up in the layer list. Open MOTION on the right-hand rail if the strip is not already showing.
2. STEP 2 · PRESS “THE LETTERS FALL”In the motion panel press The letters fall. The word splits into live letters that drop from exactly where they stand, bounce, and pile up on the sheet. A word arranged on the letterform bench falls from the bench’s own arrangement · every rise, kern and turn is baked into the seat each letter falls out of. The letters land does the same fall read from the other end · they come in from above and settle onto the line.
3. STEP 3 · THE PILE, AND THE WAY BACKThe fall is simulated once and written down as ordinary bars on the strip, so you can drag them, trim them and step inside them like any other move. Pick several pieces instead of a word and The pieces fall takes exactly those, from where they stand, splitting nothing · the order you picked them is the order they let go in. It rebuilds the layer, so if the pile is not the pile you wanted, ⌘Z unwinds all of it in one step.
